Default Engine assembly code

I need some help with verifying the engine build code on a 1959. The Vin reflects and early build for the car (J59S101688) and it appears to have the correct block and heads (block is 3756519 dated J18 or October 18) with the 3755550 heads. Engine build code is F1112CQ. Does this work with the Vin# for the car?

Seems OK to me (JMHO)
based on last serial produced Nov 1958 was car 1587
Last serial produced Dec 1958 was car 2641
So your car would seem to be an early Dec 1958 serial
Your 283 cast date is Oct 18 with number 3756519 so that seems to fit
Your engine production Nov 12, 1958 so that fits
And your suffix CQ is for 283, 230HP 1x4 WCFB carb, manual trans
So numbers seem to line up OK to me

Works for me. Car was built somewhere around Dec 3 1958. Oct.1 casting date and Nov 12 ***'y date is a little long but not unheard of. Got a picture? There are restamped base engine cars.

Wouldn't J18 be Oct 1st, 1958?

If the cast date is J188 that would be Oct 18th, 1958 right?

Oct 1 cast to Nov 12 assembly is a bit long, but not impossible IMO.

OOPS you are correct sir
Not enough coffee when I looked at this
Cast dates are letter (month) day (digit or digits) then year (digit)
3756519 blocks made from 1958-1961
So J18 is October 1, 1958
