There are SOME things you have to do at least once, period. Go, have fun, you won't be diisappointed. If you see it as a chore, it will be. This was our first time here and we loved it.

I went to Carlisle on Saturday. Over 5,000 Corvettes on hand. 50 acres or so of parts, vendors, and cars for sale. Carlisle fairgrounds is about 100 acres and quite a site to see all filled up with Corvettes and their related stuff. I usually just go to get free advice and talk to the experts about my car problems.
I've gone 23 straight years. The best thing about it is you don't have to sift through all the Mopar and Ford parts to find a Vette part. Plus I have meet more contacts at Carlisle for finding a hard to find part.
Special? Lets see. Are you a car guy? How about hot rod guy? You must be a Corvette guy after all you're on this forum. Corvettes at Carlisle has something for everyone. There's lots of Corvette everything, venders, special displays, special guests, Corvettes for sale, parts for sale, and thousands of Corvettes of all types from totally original to over the top modified. If you enjoy the Corvette hobby try to get there an experience it for yourself least once.
Carlisle Corvette show is about 1/5 the size of Charlotte .
Been to both many times and they are both worth while .

Bill,
You and Chuch both can't be right on this one. Is Charlotte 5 times bigger than what Chuck says is the biggest Corvette swap meet in the world??? Wouldn't that make Charlotte the biggest??
By the way, I attended Carlisle back in 1980 or 1981. It was big then. Can't imagine how big it is now. I passed on a 1966 427/425 Mossport Green that year. They were asking $6,500 for it. But I had no way to get it home.

I have been to all 30 years of Corvettes@Carlisle 15 years ago you couldn't get a vendor spot. The place was packed and elbow to elbow people. Now with the net many people looking for parts find it to easy to order online and that has hurt Carlisle. Also the costs for the vendors to bring parts and staff for 4 days has gone way up.
The event isn't what it once was it is still big. While you may be able to buy parts online or on e-bay nothing beats finding that NOS part you have been looking for on a table at Carlisle.

If you are talking about a strictly Corvette swap, Carlisle is the biggest in North America in my opinion . There is probably just as much Corvette stuff at Charlotte as a lot of Chevy parts are the same as Corvette .
Charlotte is way bigger and you don't need to be a mountain goat to walk it all. Carlisle has a lot of steep terrain to walk .
Not trying to start an argument , this is just my opinion .

He's right . There's something to be said for picking up a part and inspecting it or finding that NOS part that you've looked for years to find.
There are people who drive a Corvette, and there are Corvette People. If you're "Corvette People", Carlisle is sensory overload. Every year, every model, every color, every condition. Complete cars, and parts. I dare say you could buy a frame here, a body over there, an interior down the line, and so on until the only thing you would need is gasoline to drive a compete Vette out the gate. Information - guarantee you will find SOMEBODY who has already done that project you were thinking about, and can give you advice. And so on......

No, it wasn't intended to be an argument. I, like you, remember the hills at Carlisle. I was just wondering since I haven't been to the Charlotte setup.
Charlotte is huge and flat! Carlisle is alot hills! Did i mention the hills? But they are both great swap meets to attend. If you have never been to Carlisle you should try to go just for the experience!
