1962 Ignition switch
My early 62 has the original Delco Remy 577 ignition switch. It has been acting up lately by cutting off the ignition while driving. I pulled the switch and find the IGN terminal a little loose. Should you peen these with with a center punch or screwdriver? I also have a new repro from Paragon (made by Danchuk) that is peened like screwdriver blades. See pictures-original on the left. Anyone have an original out of the car with pictures?

If you try to tighten them by peening, you're going to break the bakalite, unless you completely disassemble, and make a backup jig. An easy fix, is to clean the loose terminal really good with a wire brush. Then solder using a good liquid flux. Personally, I like to use silver solder, as it is much stronger. It requires more heat, so if you're using a gun, you'll probably need 200 plus watts.
