Default Have a BBC head bolt question.

I'm in the gathering mode of pulling in the remaining parts I need to build up my 427 for the 65 project car currently in work. I have a set of late 80 or early 90's head bolts but they are not correct in apperance of say a 66 BBC head bolt.

Any idea where I could fine a new or good used set of early BBC OEM style head bolts?

I can go with what I have but would like to stay correct in apperance so to speak.

no matter what bolts you use, you should use head bolt washers with the stock style head bolts on any chevy re build.
the washers themselves may be a deduct but it could save a head bolt boss especially on the bottom row.
you may have to grind the bottom bolts so you have clearance for stock exhaust manifolds but it is still great insurance especially on used heads...jmo...good luck....

Just out of curiosity, what head marking are you looking for?

My BB 66 has M head bolts and I reused them. However, my father's has M and then C head Markings. I wonder if the C headmark bolts are replacements.

Wasn't really concerned about head markings, was looking for a 1966 OEM style bolt. Head markings aside there is a visual difference between the early and late BBC head bolts.

From what I'm seeing in the Paragon and LICS websites I'm not so sure there is a difference between the early and late BBC head bolts other than maybe a head marking. They both seem to show a picture of the same style head bolt as the ones I have that are off a 87 454 engine.

Maybe my eye are playing games with me.
