Did 66 and 67 corvettes have reverse lockout?

On stock Muncie shifters, yes the t handle has to lift to go to reverse. If replaced by Hurst, no, spring loaded and you push hard to left to overcome spring pressure to get to reverse.

So it's not like my 72 where you have to have it in reverse to get the key out of ignition?

Shifter is not tied to the ignition or brake or steering wheel in any way.
