Default Another Balancer Thread

I’m looking for a 427 8" Harmonic Balancer and Timing Cover and seem to come up with several buying options and a wide range of prices. The Summit balancer looks very different from the ZIP and LICS balancers while the ZIP and LICS are almost identical but with a big price difference. The LICS timing cover seems like the best one out there for the money.

While doing some research I found out that the number 3870325 cast into the back of the harmonic balancer is the casting number for the center hub and that the correct looking replacement PN is 3879623. If I wanted a true numbers matching balancer I would be looking for PN 3860010.

What I’m looking for is a functional correct in appearance 8” balancer for my 427 buildup, this engine is going into the NOM 65 project that I’m building my way. What have you guys used in the past for balancers and covers?

Summit Racing
8" Balancer SUM-162396 $71.95
Timing Cover Trans-Dapt Performance Products 4935 (bolt on tab) $22.95

Zip Products
8" Balancer M-2714 $109.50
Timing Cover TC-106 (no tab) $79.95
Timing Cover tab TC-117 $12.50

Long Island Corvette Supply
8" Balancer 24-37E GM 3870325 $195.00
Timing Cover (tab installed) 38-32C $72.00

a dorman balancer is a quality oem replacement

whatever you do, don't put a cheap chrome cover on it or it'll leak like a ford

Looks like the ZIP and LICS balancers are the dorman balancers.

Not sure why anyone would use a chrome cover, my choices are more refined; Chevrolet Orange.
