Default 65 Coupe electrical problem

It began about a month ago. When I would start the car my rear brake lights began flashing on their own. When I turned on the left or right signal it would go away. At that time the brake lights would still work.

Now, when I open the door to start the car, none of the interior lights come on. When I then start the car, and put my foot on the brake, all my interior lights are flashing along with the rear brake lights!!. When I take my foot off the brake the interior lights quit flashing. All gauges work fine, including the clock. But something is going on between the interior lights, turn signal, and break lights. Once I get down the road about 1 or 2 miles, the flashing of the rear lights stop, but I have no brake lights when I push on brake peddle. Help.

65 coupe/327-365 horse, 4 speed, no air, no power windows, am/fm with power antenae

Usually when brake light and turn signals are involved in the same symptom, you will find the turn signal switch is bad.

I agree, but the interaction of the interior lights makes me think that there is more than one problem or that the fault may lie in a harness or plug.

The courtesy lights should always have battery power. A ground switch completes the circuit when the door is opened.

Hey guys, thanks. Will pursue suggestions.

The car is red, black interior. Was a National Corvette Museum display car in 2002-03, postioned in the 60's "car lot show room". Car had a body off resto around 2000. Built with wheels/hubcaps and straight exhaust. Now side pipes and knock offs. Love the car, really do not want to sell it, but if reader wants more detail let me know. As they say, everything I own is for sale if the price is right.
