replacement clutch question
gonna replace my clutch while the tranny is out. looking at my old summitracing receipt from 2002, it shows part ZZZ30005 as a 10.5" but now the summit web site shows that kit as a 10.4". does this matter? or do i now need to get a 10.5"?

If this is for a small block (and your are not racing) stick with a stock spec clutch. You will save your left leg and about $150 bucks. Get a LUK 04-021. Available at many parts places.

I drive the car hard. id like to go with my old part# since thats what was in the car and has held up for the past 10 yrs and comes with everything i need for a decent price.
im just trying to understand why it now says 10.4 instead of 10.5.

I have had a really bad experience with a stock 10.4 inch clutch. Apparently many of them come from Brazil and are inferior quality. Mine chattered like it had no friction material left on the disc, and eventually blew all the friction material off the disk on a rev up to 6,000 RPM. The friction material just centrifugally came apart. No more. Centerforce from now on. The pedal force is very reasonable.

I'll chime in here as I installed a LUK in my '66 bb. The only exception was I installed a LUK heavy usage. This would be comparable to a Hayes Street/Strip. No heavy peddle or issues to date and smooooooth as buttah!
