I have a '64 283 non-Vet engine. Casting # is 3834810. My question is the number on the engine boss where the S/N and code should be is something I have never seen before. As close as i can tell it is TIOI-4C. The T and I's are kind of indistinct. Could be TTOT or any combination of T's and I's or even 1's. Does anyone have a clue ? Thanks, Bob

that might just be a stamp that a machine shop could have done to keep track of it

Never thought of that, Nowhereman. This engine is in a '59 Vet that hasn't been driven since 1976. What ever happened to this engine, it was a LONG time ago. This car was bought used and driven in 1975 and then put away "awaiting" restoration and is still waiting. Bob

T1014C would be a Tonawanda-built '58-'62 2-barrel manual-transmission engine out of a full-size passenger car; the block casting date will tell which October 14th it was.
