I'm working on cleaning out the garage and have a few item that I just don't know what to place their value at so Im looking for some opinions.
63 Main Wiring Harness. Its original GM, It has the correct metal sockets for the dash lights. It's complete. It was test a few years ago buy a harness manufature and it tested good. Any Ideas?
Same question for a 64/65 and a 66 in same condition???
I don't know what they are worth but I have a friend with a 63 that may be interested in buying that along with your red 63 seat belts. He is out of the country for a couple of weeks though. Please PM your email. Thanks.
I don't know what it would be good for actually. Using (or re-using) a 49 year old wiring harness is asking for trouble. You took it out for a reason, right? Maybe if someone needed a particular light socket or connector it could be cut up for those.
Not sure what they are worth but I may be interested in the 64-66 harness for the sockets and ends. Let me know what you you want for it when you figure it out.

Well I guess I should have discribed this better. This a low use harness that was checked out by a reputable harness manufature. I would have no hesitation putting this to use. No wires have ever been CUT. It has been stored in plastic bag in a box so it has had no UV exposer. The climate here is mild with some humidity. Therefore the insulation on the wires is soft and flexible. There is no rust in the fuse box or on any of the connections. All the connectors are present.
Repros are now going for $480ish. I would value this one at about 10% higher.
To be honest I don't remember how I came by it or the other 2. In the 80's I part cars out, converted street cars to race cars and I did a number of frame off restorations where the owners wanted them change out. I also bought the inventories of some other shops and wrecking yards.
One mans trash is anothers treasure..... or vise vera........
OK, so you already know what you want for the harnesses.
Why not just go ahead and list in the C1/2 parts for sale forum?
You could start at $500 and see how many people (if any) agree with your evaluation.
good luck

I need to get one question answered first before I list it for sale. In 63 there were 2 main dash harnesses. One was standard and the 2nd had backup lights. Anyone know how to tell the differance?

Thanks for the responces.

Its a good question that I "should be able to answer" but I can't. I had the no backup light harness, and substituted it with the backup light one. When finished I had no wires left over and so cannot see where the backup switch from transmission actually plugs in. All I know is that for as long as you have no backup switch on the tranny, the only thing that makes the car a backup light car is the rear harness. The bulbs are wired differently. I have not replaced mine yet and so the backup lights which you would expect to be screwed up, function normally as if a non backup harness was used.
Personally I think you will be hard pressed to get $250 for it. Good or not, the longer the harness has been sitting around the better odds some wires have adhered to each other, so just putting the harness in may break the odd wire. I would personally not buy a used harness or very old one even if the President okayed it because to get the "warranty/guarantee" you have to rip it out and return it. I paid $360 for mine when it was on sale. The new harnesses have a softer casing allowing the wires to move inside the harness. The old ones when exposed to heat can cause wires to adhere to each other. Thats why working on an old harness is more trouble then its worth. Fixing one problem creates others, then when finished you have less hair and far less patience with "life"
