Default Headers by Ed...

Anyone ever use Headers by Ed to produce some sidemount headers? Since Headers by Ed says they will again begin producing headers, I was wondering how good they actually are.

Thanks,
John

Headers by Ed were very good 20 years ago, but I can't say for how they are now. As I recall, they were pretty much concentrating on the nich markets...392 Hemi in a Studebaker kind of stuff. Mostly custom, very expensive, and very long wait times. I really don't think this makes much of a difference anyway since you'll be pressed to make more horsepower with headers made by Ed as opposed to anyone else.

It looks like header production may be a side business now at Headers by Ed, as they are concentrating more on producing header parts/kits.

I was just looking for header alternatives that will maintain the appearance of factory style side mount exhaust (i.e. can fit behind heat shields). I agree with you that "properly" sized headers will produce similar outputs between manufacturers, not enough for me to concerned with.

So far it looks like Hedman, Stahl and Headers by Ed produce headers that can be custom fit to hide the exhaust behind factory heat shields.

Any other opinions?

John

Since you really can't fir long tube headers and factory sidepipes without a some U turns in the tubing, you can also look at any block hugger type of header. If so, don't forget about Sanderson. I have heard a lot of good things about their products as well.
