Just contacted by "Jennifer Hanson" who has a 435 67 for $14,xxxx...got divorced, don't need the car, living in Slovakia, car in Maine... Go through ebay so "we are both safe"... Just a heads up. 540-55
Your going to get burned. It probably says buy now with pay right away from Paypal right? Or is it on another site and they want you to use Paypal? Go pick up the car and pay in person. You will never get to see a car.
Why would one even bother to read that ad ? You really think someone would sell a car like that for nothing ??????? Twenty seconds on the computer the seller can have an average retail price. Sucks those bargain hunters right in ... only phrase missing is " barn find ".
I responded to one of these ads last week on CL
It was for a 1966 conv L36 for 9K.
I thought it was a typo and maybe they wanted 90K but no it was 9K.
A divorcee was trying to sell.
Wanted me to send money through Google so we both would be protected!!!
Who would fall for this?

I am sure that there have been people in the past who have sent the money and that is why they are still posting there ads. Besides why didn't you buy it, it sounds like s more then fair price. Run Forest Run.
Obvious scam. I’ve seen similar adds, responded to them just to see how they would try to work it. Every time I got them backed into a corner about meeting to exchange the car for money, the conversation stops.
I just posted another alert re: a 63 Fuelie Cpe. The guy's name is Chad Brown. He sent me all the photos and the VIN. I'm waiting for the title.
What I wondering, is, is there a way to catch these people so we can stop all this stuff? PM me if you have any ideas and I will follow through with them.

It's like playing whack-a-mole. If you clobber one here, another pops up over there. As long as there are people, there will be someone trying to run a scam. Not saying you should not try to get someone busted but most likely they are so well insulated through dummy accounts etc you're wasting your time. You can have more fun stringing them along and wasting THEIR time if you don't mind wasting YOURS.
I am not worried. As soon as the King of Nigeria takes this last deposit of mine so that the $14,000,000 can leave the country I am on easy street Net profit after all taxes paid a cool $13,840,000

I do IT security consulting for a living. This is never a good idea IMO. Once these clowns get a 'live' contact (whether serious or not) he shotguns the info to his buddies, or uses it himself, and then they come at you two dozen different ways with a whole new suite of scams or viruses.
Interesting thing is that I was in email conversation with Chad Brown about a 63 Coupe when I asked for a copy of the title. He resisted but eventually sent a copy of the title for the car with the right vin with Chad Brown on the title.
Usually when I ask for a copy of the title the scammers go running. It must be photoshop'd.
The telling fact is when they always want to use some third party to make you feel better. I always respond that I would be ok with using escrow.com and again the cockroaches start running for cover.
