Very cool find.
It does.

Great find! You can't beat the red/red though. The hole should not be in the fenderwell. I like the dogdish look on both of mine. I have the original full caps for show.

Welcome to the '62 club, nice looking car.
I would agree with Jeff and the others that your car probably originally had a red interior, maybe it wasn't originally red outside? Look up in the front fenders and up in the trunk, and they had the original interior color written in green crayon on the panel behind the passenger seat.
I also noticed it has flared rear wheel wells, any other modifications other than the front suspension?
Just asking because the rest looks very stock and original, sort of interesting that someone would have flared the the quarters on an otherwise stock appearing car?
If your car was originally sold in Canada, contact George at GM historical services in Oshawa and he can provide you with a report like the one below.
Enjoy, and from the pics looks like you may need to head down to Canadian Tire and get some snow tires for it.

The car originally came out of the US. I don't think the rear wheel wells are flared? They look stock to me?

Take another look Allan, they are flared, just a bit. Good eye Paul, I missed that when I looked at it first, now that I see it, it sticks out to me. Well done, but you may want to redo that with the next paint job.

Very cool find.
It's been diddled with at least a little bit - the passenger side valve cover has the casting flaw through the "o" in the word CORVETTE...so that's not original. Nice car from all accounts thought.

Wow, I shouldn't question all these experts
Looked at the rear fenders this morning and they have been worked on. Very subtle, I would have never noticed. Good eye!!

........ and no need for a visit to Canadian Tire , the car will be sitting until spring.

Thanks again,

Allan

Allan, you can see traces of red paint in the spare tire area, under the black. Further evidence your car was a red/red car originally. Not that it matters, particularly if you don't plan to redo the interior any time soon.

Looks like you picked up a real keeper. JMR suspension is a real plus and if you need pictures on how to do your bumperet license mount on front let me know and I'll post pictures.

Trunk areas are body color regardless of interiors and steering wheels are interior colors

Almost all of these cars have had something done to them at some point Allan, back in the seventies C1's were dirt cheap, not much room in the rear wells for big tires or slicks, so radiusing the openings was pretty common.
On this pic of a '61 (not mine), you can see how the stock opening has a squared shape, and then the top lip continues on to form the crease along the rear part of the quarter.

Not a big deal, subtle on yours, and if ever your want to change them at some point in a few years if you have to repaint the car, you can do it then...
With the last pics you posted I think that your car may have had a black interior after all, but that the exterior color may have originally been Honduras Maroon?
Someone did repaint the trunk in black at some point, but is the red that Jeff mentions peeking through in the trunk bright red or maroon? I ask because it also looks like there might be a bit of maroon peeking through at the edges in the door openings, but it could also just be the pics, or my aging eyesight.
To me digging into these old cars and learning about them is half the fun, like the layers of sediment to an archeologist, every old car has a story to tell...

The paint in the trunk (under the black) is bright red. Put the car on the lift this morning and it looks even better than I was hoping. It has the original transmission in it also.

Looking at the front suspension, I now understand why the licenses plate mount is off. If you could send me some photos of how to mount it, that would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Allan

Never thought about doing step by step when I did it.It is adjustable if you want it lower by putting in shims.

Thanks for the photos. The other option would be to leave it off...... It does look really clean without it......... and we don't have a front plate in Alberta anyway

No need messing up the stock bracket if you don't need a plate on the front. Although the bracket on the front will keep you from busting glass if you pull too far forward and hit a concrete stop when parking.
