Default distributor rebuilder ???

Its time to rebuild .any good re builders ?? I also noticed in paragon catolog they have two main shafts listed SHP its $185 just for the shaft new bushings are $12 ,then there is the main shaft for all other applications $60 ,Now what would the differance be between each shaft.they also warn of different bushing sizes & check bore sizes . a few years back i did order from corvette central new bushings as well as a new main shaft .the bushings fit the housing I have but the shaft did not fit there bushings it was returned . my unit is a 1112021 350/350 tach drive would this require the SHP shaft ?

Mike Labudovich in Chesapeake, VA has rebuilt two distributors for my cars in the last few years. He uses a Sun Machine to make sure the curves are set up as needed.

The difference between the two shafts is the shape of the "football" that's brazed to the top end, which works with the weights and springs to determine the centrifugal advance curve. It's very common to have to ream the bushings after installing them in the housing in order to obtain proper shaft fit. The #1112021 was originally on a '70 L-46 (350/350hp), and requires the SHP shaft.

I managed some research today .looking at my old main shaft pulled from 1112021 350/350 distributor it turned out it was not the shp as should be .so it was most likley replaced long ago the CCW 536 plate was still there . I also noticed a thread warning of shafts sold with football welded on upside down . the good news is corvette central seems to stock the shp main shaft part # 272119 $59 a good price , anyone know why paragon shafts are such a big difference in price.$185

Have you tried a real auto parts store. FYI that shaft fits more then just that vette. No need to get shafted buying a shaft
