It has been 20 yr since I ran with the NCRS crowd and forgot most of the date code stuff. This windshield that I am getting ready to sell has two codes:
I believe the last item is AS (American Standard)-1 (not AS-I) there is also AS-2 and AS-3 glass. The numbers have to do with light transmission properties which drive where the glass can be used in the car.

AI (which I believe is 1966/ June)
AS-I which I have no idea what it means
The glass is LOF
AS1 is an industry standard code on all windshields. The "AI" date code is September, of 1962 or 1975.

Or the OP is reading it from the other side of the glass as AI
You had me wondering myself about this AI or IA as I was quite sure I wrote it down correctly. Since it is in storage and I just now was able to check it again I can tell you it is as I first said - AI.
There is actually more to this date code story. When I originally ordered this windshield for my '63 back in 1986 I was just getting into NCRS judging and was quite naive about matching number stuff. I wanted to replace the windshield because it was probably original and had lots of blemishes. So I ordered a new windshield and they never asked about date code and I was too dumb to ask so I guess they just shipped me the first thing off the shelf . Either that or one they dated coded improperly knowing I wouldn't know the difference.
I did eventially figure out the matching number thing as the '63 ended up with the Duntov and Bloomington Gold.
Could you give some background on your avatar picture? Very interesting looking.

I've always wanted to do this - take a picture of a scene of the cop on his way back to his car after telling me to slow down. He is a Missouri State trooper (probably in his 30s) and has owned Mustangs ever since he was 16 and appreciates all vintage of any breed. He liked my engine compartment and we had a good visit after he ran my tags and I "had no warrants".
I don't remember if it was him or somebody else that told me " I know how hard it is to hold it down when you drive something like this."
Anymore it seems like every time I get in the '65 i get pulled over. The wife and I drove to Savannah, Ga for Christmas and a local got me in some little town in TN. I forgot it reads 5 MPH slow since I went from 3:55 to 3:08 plus the 5 over equals blue lights. He said he couldn't figure out why I would keep speeding with him following me.
It was raining so I didn't get out to take his picture.
