Default Engine Block ID Needed

My neighbor has an engine block in his garage. I wanted to id it to see if it is are worth rebuilding.

1.) 283 Casting# 3737739 Pad#F206D Date: A68

The only thing I can dig up is the block casting number #3737739 is listed as a 283 available in Corvettes from 58 through early 59 models but the Corvette listings for those two years seem to have two letter suffix designations such as 'DG' or 'DJ'.

its a 1958 Impala 283/185 power glide 2 barrel carb assembled in Flint on Feb 6. the block was cast in Jan 8 of 1958

Many an old D stamped block magically has grown an additional letter like a G or J that somehow made them more valuable. How about that
