Side yoke ?

I am in the process of replacing the diff in my 64 with a used 69, 3:70 model which didn't come with side yokes. Would it be advisable to replace the yokes at this time or use the ones out of my old diff? The 69 diff came out of a big block car and didn't have any noise or noticeable problems at time of removal. Thanks in advance.

I would (and did) replace the small block yokes with the big block yokes.

You can exam them for excesive wear and test fit them for excessive in-out play. If OK, no harm in re-using them.

Replace the yoke seals in the case, as well as your pinion seal, since you have the unit out. Cheap insurance down the road.

Thanks to everyone for the good info. I already have the new seals in place and will check for end play at the yokes. I think it's .008 to .010. between yoke and pinion shaft. We also did a backlash test and the ring and pinion are meshing perfectly.
