Defroster

While taking my dash apart I noticed that the defoster tube connected to the speaker below the dash has about a 2 inch gap between it's end and the heater (blower) box. Am I missing a part on my 65 roadster??
I have looked in the CC book and on line and can not find these part or the proper name for them.
