Default C2 Leaf Spring

My '65 365 is currently in the shop to have the suspension, including leaf spring, replaced. My car has much that is original. I have been reading the various posts here including the recent one that indicated a "GLS" mark on the sides of the spring. Yesterday, my shop - who specializes in Corvette restoration - confirmed that at least one of my leafs has the GLS mark. They need to disassemble and clean the rest to see if it appears on others.

Questions:

1) Is this mark ONLY on original springs, ie. does this confirm my spring as original?

2) Would "GLS" appear on ALL leafs of an original spring, or is it possible it would only be on some, but not all, of an original spring?

If it is original, i'm going to change course and have it restored vs. replace w/ a repro.

Thanks in advance for your help.

GLS stands for Great Lake Steel. It appears randomly on the leafs, ie: not in the same place on each leaf and not necessarily on every leaf. Looks like you have an original spring.

I think I found it on 2 (or perhaps 3) leafs on my original spring. This logo along with the end curves/curls and taper should confirm originality.

Some additional info my Corvette restorer just shared, thought i'd share it here:

"GLS appears on the spring when they hot rolled the flat stock. Depending on the size of the roll GLS would appear anywhere from 1 ft to 6 ft. Then they cut the flat stock to length and made the spring, so GLS could appear anywhere or not at all. Could also be a partial if they cut at the GLS."

Yup - that's exactly what i'm doing. It is being sent to Eaton's for their re-arcing process.

Here's an article I wrote on the Eaton process - it covers making leaf springs from scratch, but their re-arching process is essentially identical.
