Default Holley float adjustment

Not really a Corvette question but I have a '60 w/283 and a Holley spread bore 4 barrel. Model 4165 list 6512. I cannot find the the proper measurement for a manual float adjustment for list #6512. Most are set to a level position with the bowl inverted, but not all. I know someone has the answer.

Thanks

Why not just get it close then set it once you have the car running. At idle, the fuel should just reach the sight plug opening.

The Holley website (http://www.holley.com/) contains a wealth of information, primarily under the “Technical” button. You might have to do a little searching but you’ll find a lot of specific information about your carburetor. Here is a link to the general guidelines for setting brass, nitrophyl and duracon (plastic) floats: http://www.holley.com/data/TechServi...Carburetor.pdf

Not possible as external float adj is not possible. Only possible by bending the float adjuster internally

I did a quick search for you Model 4165, List 6512, on the Holley website and found the following. Click the TECHNICAL button, go to Resource Documents and Downloads, go to Carb Numerical Listing and find your carb. It’s on pages 7-8 of:

http://www.holley.com/data/TechServi...%20Listing.pdf

It shows the Renew Kit for your carb: 37-605. Now go back to the TECHNICAL button, go to Instruction Sheets. Enter 37-605 in the search box and you get a carburetor instruction sheet for models 4165 and 4175. It says the List 6512 primary dry float adjustment is “parallel.”

http://www.holley.com/data/Products/...R8340-1rev.pdf

Also under the TECHNICAL button, go back to Resource Documents and Downloads, and go down to Model 4165/4175 Exploded View & Nomenclature.

I'm sure there's more on your carb. Like I said, you have to do some searching but you’ll find a wealth of information on the Holley website.

I have been to this page before but still cannot see List 6512. Maybe I am missing something.

Thanks for your effort.

cubby173,

So, looking through some of the Holley literature which Mike67nv dug up for you, I came across this: http://www.holley.com/data/Products/...R8340-1rev.pdf

Unless this is a generic approach to all Holleys that have this external sight plug, your only option for your 4165 is how you've done it. Physically have the bowl in your hand and, holding it upside down and adjust the float to just almost level. Put her back together, fire her off, then make any tweak adjustment based on how she's running.

I'm kinda' surprised there's no sight plug to help you.

Good luck!

Regards,

Jim
