Default 59 Ballist Resistor Position

Hi Guys,

I am putting the final touches to the engine bay and was wondering where the origional mounting position of the ballist resistor was.

I have checked the manuals, Rolands book and a bunch of books and magazines but none of them are clear where it attaches.

It was on one screw of the wiper motor cover when I got the car but it doesn't look like the proper position.

Any help appreciated as allways, Mark.

Correct mounting is just to the right of the wiper motor. There should be a single screw hole. The left side of the resistor will almost touch the wiper mounting plate. If that's not clear, email me and I'll send you a picture. BTW, ti mounts in a horizontal orientation.

There's a phillips head screw or bolt that mounts the thing to the firewall. Do you know what the size of that screw/bolt is?

My '58 has a clutch head screw holding the ballast resistor, I think it's a #14 or almost 1/4" in diameter. All this talk about left and right side could confuse things, my ballast resistor is on the passenger side (right side of car, left side looking at it with the hood open), screw on top. No Fruedian slip.

Mark,

I presumed that was the case as when I looked for the hole the only one that I found was on the "passenger" side and it was 1/4" so thats where I've mounted it.

Mark.
