Default Original bumper value

We have an extra set of mid year front bumpers in our shop, I'm trying to determine the value. They are the original bumpers, not factory service parts or reproductions. There are two dime sized holes, but they're otherwise solid. Of course, they need rechroming. What would these be worth in their current state? Fixed and Chromed? I usually sell parts on eBay but if anybody here on the forum wants to buy them, PM me. If you are interested and want pictures, let me know. Thanks

Have you searched E-bay for ANY pricing? It may not be much since repair and chroming for one could easily cost $300. Dennis

I don't know how much you could expect to get from bumpers that need repair and rechroming, but ebay might be the perfect place for it.

I'm more interested in the Studebaker Commander in your avatar. I think those cars are so cool.

According to a recent post, Paragons repops are $535/corner. That being said, I'd personally always take a (straight) re-chromed original over a repo. Maybe it's time to call a plater...

The killer on this deal is shipping. Shipping from the seller to the buyer. From the buyer to the plater. From the plater back to the buyer and hope the bumpers FIT!

I was with a friend at the NCRS regional in Kissimmee, Florida just over a month ago. He needed a pair of rear bumpers for a project he is working on. We walked the swap meet held adjacent to the showfield and he bought the best set we could find for $ 150.00. There were others for less, and they all needed rechroming, but at least his didn't have rusted-out holes that required welding. No shipping issues since we spent the day at the regional and down the road at the Mecum auction

Already did the repop thing to fix a minor bumper crumple in late 2010. My body shop could not get the repop bumper to align properly. It was so bad, the headlight bucket wouldn't even open. We rescued the original bumper from the trash, had the dent weld filled and ground, and had the bumper replated. Total cost was a little more than the repop, but at least the damn thing fit correctly!!

Those originals may be worth more than you think.

I've looked on eBay, and prices for bumpers in similar shape are around $100-$150. But then, people mention they prefer originals to reproductions. Paragons repros are over $500, and seeing that makes me wonder if I should ask more for them, which is why I started the thread.

And yes, my uncle and I bought and sold that Commander. They are really neat cars, I always keep an eye out for them. I'd love to get an original V8 model in Starliner trim.
