Has anyone been offered any trades for their C1 or C2 ? I thought we could share some instances of trade offers or any trades that were made.
I had offers of :
1) $30,000
2) 2000 Mustang Convertible
3) Another time when I was out cruising a guy strolling with his lady friend
offered me her in return for the C1. Of course he was joking or was he ? She was a blonde and leggy, I often wondered if they are still a pair.
Or if they had words later that night ?
1) A straight across for a 300 mile demo 2001 C5 from a local Chev dealership when I stopped by to pick up my wife.
2) A very clean (from the exterior) early SS 396 and some "cash" (would have had to have been a goodly amount of the latter..... ).
3) $45 k straight up from a stranger in a Mercedes in front of a Starbucks....there are days when I still think about that one since it was a bit more than I paid initially. But, that was about a month or so after I had brought her home......and I probably would have foolishly turned down 60 or 70 at that time........
4) A straight up deal for the first born of a couple who indicated the kid had slave potential but required some training..... I told them I already had one of those without the slave potential but capable of sleeping all day long.....

Three weeks after I bought my '63 a guy offered me $25,000 which was $8,000 more than I paid for it. I thought about it. I think if he would have made it to $27,000 he might have bought himself a car.
Had a guy leave a blank check on the windshield at Carlisle that year too. Wasn't even on the show field. It had VOID written on it, and if you want to sell this hotrod vette call me.
Since I wrecked and restored it, I had a guy offer $55,000. I said " You are at the doors of the ballpark. Come find me if you want to talk more."(I was trying to pull into a car show) If he came back, it must have been while I was getting a hot dog.
Classic
A year after I bought it, 2 Chevy salesmen offered me a $100 more than I paid for the '62 :yesnod: :yesnod: Of course, this was in 1968 and I paid $1600 for it in 1967

During the Power Tour on one of my many gas stops, the guy driving the factory hemi Dodge Ram offered to trade me straight across. That probably doesn't count since it wasn't his to trade.
Have had many--In 1976 I was at a gas station when a guy walked up and asked if I would sell it I said no and he gave me the old "well if you would what would you want?". I was getting annoyed cause this guy had an attitude and didn't strike me as having the bucks anyhow, so I reached in the air and came up with $13,500 which was probably 6 grand high. He pulled out a card and said I'll take it if you'll sell. I told him I'd call if I changed my mind. Later I learned that this 20 something was a member of the more money than brains club and he would likely write a check on the spot. But he couldn't have passed my corvette personality test so no way.
"Last yr a guy wanted to give me a newer Harley plus money for my 67. I told him I was to old & I only ride with 4 wheels underneath me these days. "
How about a Harley with training wheels....
Had a guy offer to trade a 98 C5 Red convt w/6 spd and 20K on the clock for my 63 SWC at last nights cruise... damn wife had to go with me.... that's all I heard on the way home.... but I like Red she says.... I'm seeing Red right now.... :mad
