Which suspension is Mike installing?
I used to call it my garage art because it looked so good just sitting there. The outside looked great, but underneath is where all the work needed to be done. I will be posting a lot more pictures as the car comes apart and you will see why. I have the c5 front / c4 rear set up w/ Dana 44 rear (3:55 gears).

Here are the new rear wheel wells Mike will install along w/ the new metal piece which will be welded into place. New body mounts also had to be welded in the back section. Once the body was structurally sound enough it was separated from the old chassis.

Looking forward to your updates, esp. when that motor is sitting comfortably under the bonnet.

Here are the new wheel wells, they are notched so the top will fold into the stock position and will be able to fit P285 wide tires under the stock fenders. I will be losing any storage in the glovebox area with the addition of Vintage Air, so the there was a small storage space built behind the drivers seat. The battery will also be relocated in the back area on the passenger side and a panel will be built to hide it as well as stereo equipment.

I too have the new VA 4 system which left 4" of depth in the glove box, still enough for lots of items. I just installed a custom armrest on top a storage box, between the seats, and that adds a lot more storage, and comfort.
You're fortunate to be working with Mike throughout your project.

I've always loved the matt black look on covers ever since I first saw one of these!

Good to know thanks. Do you have pictures of the armrest? I've been wondering what I was going to do there (among other areas.) Mike's been great to work with too. Living in Chicago makes it easy for me to drive to his shop and check out my project...I always feel like a kid in a candy store when I'm there!

Here are some pictures of the body work under the hood. The firewall gets clean up and so do the gaps in the wheel wells where the stock suspension used to sit and where the SRIII chassis sits now. I decided to have Mike fill in those areas and clean it up to look like it came from the factory that way.

Default Update

Finally!! Look what finally arrived at Mike's shop! It took longer than expected but the motor is done. The braided stainless lines are custom which added a little more work than anticipated. Now everything can start being fit properly. The body is mostly finished. The seats still have to be fit and transmission will be checked for clearance.....then paint! Now it starts getting exciting when you finally start seeing light at the end of the tunnel! More pictures to come...now I have to celebrate a Blackhawks Stanley Cup!

Those are beautiful....

Default Wheels

chgc267,

What wheels are you putting on that puppy? I know you said you wanted a stock apperance on the exterior and what's hard to do with the new frames & suspension. I always throught that some 17 or 18 wheels that looked like the '67 "knock off" wheels would be cool (don't know if anyone makes them).

Great project!
