i had recently purchased a old ford with a small block chevrolet in it and was told by the previous owner it came out of a late 50's early 60's corvette. the only markings i can find right now is cast into the left rear of the block is 3756519 , and stamped into the right front pad on the motor is F724D. it has a downdraft tube, a carter four barrel carb and the oddest looking left side manifold with the dump it the front of the manifold under the generator. can someone help me identify this motor please ?? just curious as to what it is. thanks
Well you need the block casting date to clarify year (located on driver side rear of block on flange forward of bellhousing).
But based on what you have so far...
3756519 is a 283 block built between 1958-1962
F724D would seem to be F = Flint, 724 = July 24, D = NOT corvette, as is a single letter suffix. My books show this is 185HP powerglide passenger car engine
Two rules of the hobby are that all Chev engines that have become separated from their original cars 'came from a Corvette', and all Corvettes that have lost their original engines used to be either a high HP big block or a fuelie.

This reminds me of the difference between a fairy tale and an old Corvette story.
A fairy tale begins..."Once upon a time..." an old Corvette story begins..."Once upon a time, no sh*t...
