Does anyone have backuplights on a 63 and if so, (assuming you did not use any of the tail lights, what did you do? Looking for something ingenious yet does not take away from stock look.
I recently purchased one of these Die Cast models of a 63 because it just so happened to be a 327-340 and in Daytona blue so its exactly a replica of what I have. Strangely enough the inside tail lights are painted white as if they were back up lights? So that got me thinking, when were back up tail lights introduced into a C2? When did the backup light appear on a C2 above the license plate? Who is on first? Whats on Second?
When I had the 2012 ZR-1 on the lift the other day I noticed that the "back-up lights" were just three little bright white LEDs mounted in plastic housings in the recessed areas on either side of the license. You don't even see them unless the car is up.

Backup lights were an option right from the beginning of '63 production, as RPO T86, which continued through 1964. In '65, they became part of the Z01 Comfort & Convenience option (with a day/night mirror), and they became standard equipment in 1966. In 1967 they moved to above the license plate.

Hmmm I like that idea!! I will wonder over to the local GM dealer and take a look. Something subtle would work for me. Buying a repro license plate/light frame and drilling in some LED brackets sounds like a great solution. No holes in car and I get what I need.
I have a back up camera on the car. So would like to also have some light
