The carb on my L-79 says:

39006631 DA
List 3810
2848

I don't know how to decode that date code but wouldn't it have to be a 3 digit number to be the original carb for my car?

The original 1967 List 3810 carb had a 3 digit date code. Holly went to four digits around 1972. The carb you have was built on the 284th day of 1978 or 1988 or 1998 or... The 284th day is around October 15 or so. You can guess the year.
