Edelbrock IAS, more than Monroe, but not a waste of money. They're no longer made but the point is that there are shocks out there's that make the car feel much more stable, and ride well, even if you're not racing it.

SPAX adjustable. My suspension is n ot stock but I do not race the car. I like the adjustable feature. Ride quality and handling are subjective. I set them to my taste and what I like.

Yikes $100+ each, a little steep. Have you ever run anything else, and if so, can you tell a big difference?

I have a car set of new, never installed, Bilstein Sports I'll sell for $200 plus shipping. If you are interested. Too stiff for me.

I just replaced the original date coded delcos in my 64 (which were not doing anything at all) with Bilstein HD's.

I dont know if they were a waste of money or not because I didn't try anything cheaper, but I am happy with them and I have had good experiences with their products in other cars.

Having said that, my coupe has some kind of no name el cheapos in it from the previous owner and I think they are great too (harsher ride but that doesn't bother me)!

I was always interested in seeing how these so called shocks became ajustable....Or is this feature just a bragging rights situation at the local cruise and selling hype to justify the high prices....if it cant be done from inside the car what do you do? ...crawl under a already low car and give them a healthy twist with a spanner wrench !....some are even buried inside the coil springs....smart money are on Monroes......

I would like to have your old original shocks, if you do not want them. Rich

I have adjustable bilsteins on another car and you just turn the tops of the shocks under the hood (in the front) or in the trunk (not possible for midyears I guess). I have seen others that have valve bodies on the side of the shock itself.

The benefit is choice, you never have to wish your shocks were a little firmer but not too firm, because you can dial them in. Same goes for ride height when it comes to coilovers. Like everything though, only the real enthusiast wants such a thing so they have to pay for it to be made in lower volume, the others can buy Monroe, join the crowd, then get the volume discount... same reason people buy Camry's !

My SPAX are externally adjustable with a screw driver on the lower part of the shock. Yes I have to crawl under the car to adjust them. It takes about 1 minute to adjust all four and I only did it during set up. Now that I have the ride and handling I want I leave them alone. So far the recommended shocks in this thread are are Delco, Monroes, Edelbrock, SPAX and Bilstein HD. Before it's over I expect there will be more. So. Which ones will suit the OP? I sure don't know but I can say adjustable ones give you options with one purchase. JMHO
