Default Question for JohnZ

John:
As you always seem to know the answer to my questions, I thought I would run this one by you.
On my 62 300HP there are 2 holes drilled in the firewall to the left and below the heater input box that are approx. 4 inches apart and appear to be factory drilled. They are roughly 3/8" to 1/2" in diameter. Do you have any idea if they are supposed to be there and, if so, what they may have accommodated?
Thanks as always....
George

On my restored 62, below the firewall seam and to the passenger side of the heater box opening, are 2 holes 5" apart.

Those holes are penetrated by rubber male-shaped firewall insulation retainers.

There is a similar hole and rubber retainer to the driver's side of the heater box opening, near the verticle ignition shielding.

62Jeff:
Thanks for your response. Seems like the most logical answer and since mine are open I will check for the insulation that should be in the area behind the firewall.

You can see the insulation in this photo. One of the retainers is visible just above the carpet line to the right

I defer to "62Jeff" and "62Corvette" when it comes to '62 detail issues.
