66 Right Rear brake locking up????
I have done a search in this forum for what's happening to my 66 vert. My GF and I drove my 66 around for about 2 hours solid Sunday. I noticed it seemed like it was darting to the left. As I got closer home, I felt the car loose power and the right rear caliper almost locked up. By the time I got it in the driveway, it was smoking bad. I thought something was on fire. Anyone have any ideas? I read where the brake rod going into the master cylinder might need adjusting, but why only the right rear? Or the master cylinder may have some debris in the bottom of the reservoir, again, why the right rear only? Any help would be appreciated. No power brakes 327 4 speed with PS only. The next day the car was fine after it cooled..
Thanks!
Thanks!

I would first check your 'rubber' brake line, could have collapsed internally..
And if thats the case, i would replace all of them...

The right rear locking shouldn't cause you to dart left. I think if I were working with this issue, I'd try bleeding the calipers first to make sure that you're getting pressure to all four and that there is no air in the system. Then I'd drive for a while (close to home) and see if the problem showed up. If so, I'd change out that hose. That's the line I would use, maybe someone has seen a different cause that can help.

Parking Brake Hardware?
Maybe one of the parking brake return springs has snapped and the shoes aren't being fully retracted. As to why it would be okay the next day...maybe the shoes shifted away from making contact? Since you're going to be 'in there' anyway, might as well double check everything.

If the rubber lines are old why not just replace all --is there one from frame-- sorry C1 guy. Then do the bleeding, checking each caliper, parts hanging up, broken etc. This saves one bleeding and gives you one less thing to wonder about later. Mel

Another vote for replacing the rubber lines..if they are old. Do all 4 wheels, flush the system. If those pads were smoked..I would inspect them too (replace both sides).
