Default Sticky float

The float on my 1850 Holley keeps sticking and flooding the engine .I was hoping there was an adjustment but no adjustment screw or sight gauge at all . Guess I'll pull the bowl (rear one) and see whats up. Is the tube that runs between the front and rear bowls gonna be a problem? Any other problems to look out for ?

no problem on the o rings usually, some builders always replace with new ones. just use a little oil or spit so they slide in easily
could be just dirt in the needle and seat or a heavy (punctured ) float....good luck....

either replace the o-ring in the tubes or put some vaseline on them when reinstalling them...

Thanks for the info. I didn't know how the tube was sealed , O rings are usually simple ! I'll probably tackle it in the morning , going to a local semi pro baseball game this evening . Batter Up !!

I removed the bowl and everything looks fine . the float sits about 7/32 inch from the bowl top when inverted . No debris that I can see . The carb is only about 1yr old and has only about 300 miles on it .
Can I blow air into it to clean the needle and seat or should I try to disassemble it ?

take it apart and clean it, sink the float in some water with a weight on it if you don't find any debris, for some time to see if it gets heavier, may have a leaky one, might want to just replace the needle and seat
check the fuel filter or if you have a bronze one in the front bowl.....

I removed the needle and float . the float is good ,no leaks . the needles rubber tip look good under magnification . I'm not sure how to remove the seat . Will it hurt to blow compressed air thru it ?

no....

shake the float to see if it is empty
check the tang on the float to see it closes the float (needle) all the way when adjusted properly
it can look good and still be bad

Default If isn't one of the following, then I will give it more thought!

Fuel Pressure?
viton eaten away from alcohol blend gas?
spring perch flat bent from over adjustment? midyear touched on this
corrosion/or build up on the pivot thru pin?
float cracked, porous and won't float adequately? midyear also

ps you already checked out some of the other possibilities!
