I will just keep my C1 & C2

I still say there are few cars that match the styling and grace of a later model C1.
I park beside Lambos, Ferraris and other exotics at my favorite cigar store and my '61 draws just as much attention as those pasta rockets.

Doubt in 30 yrs youll see any of these later model vettes on the road
With all the electonics noone will be restoring them imo
Throw away cars. Drive the pee out of em and move on.
I love the old iron, all of em. They dont do what the new ones do but heck ya can fix anythign on them in minutes with a 7 pc wrench set and 2 screwdrivers it seems. Less is more!

I think it was a mistake to try to graft that C-2 rear onto a beautiful C-1, creating a hermaphrodite that from a side view, looks like it's sagging in the middle. The squareness of the rear doesn't go with the rest of the car that is made up of all curves.

I love to drive my 57 resto rod and love the attention it brings. Seems like it always draws its share of looks where ever I take it....also love the mid years, they are a classic design which will never be duplicated.
With that said I will be trading my CTSV Coupe in on a C7 roadster later this winter. I went from a C6 to the caddy and now I gotta have that new Vette. The C6 s are great cars and the 7 should be even better. And yes it will draw attention for a short while but never the attention of my 57. You are being over optimistic on the 5K it's more likely 10K but like someone else said, it isn't always about the money.
More than likely most early buyers will pay over sticker to own one.

I bought my 09 new and sold it Tuesday to pursue the C2 if my dreams, effective tomorrow afternoon. I go with OP's opinion. The C6 was great but still has a bit more depreciating to do. When you want a Sting Ray, nothing will replace it. Over on the C6 or C7 forums many don't give two cents about an old one, its all opinion any way. Save the wave, tho!

And how many C2 buyers would jump at the chance to buy a C2 with each and every part factory original and new with no use, wear, damage, abuse, scratches and zero miles? Doubt anyone would complain about a 5K premium.

The C6 and C7 are just totally amazing pieces of engineering. Although I rather cruse around town in my BMW as my daily driver ,,,, that c6 get's my heart pounding

The best part of the C7 is you can drive it anywhere, rain or shine. Some C1 and C2 owners won't take the car out of the garage if there is a cloud in the sky.
But I agree, there is nothing like the style of the early and mid years

I think they are all great looking. As far as losing 5K....well it would probably be more but I dont look at it as losing. I look at it as enjoying my money. Nobody rides for free. Thats just going to be the cost to drive the latest and greatest.

I understand that everyone is different and everyone like different things. That is what makes the world go round I think. Just speaking for my the 53-55's and the 63-67's can not be beat for body styling mostly in the 63-67 I think the coupes are the sharpest. I know that the convertibles are nice and I like them also but it is the Coupes that tickles my funny bone the most . To me it is just something about the over all lines of the coupe .
I love my '60 and '56 but the '67 air coupe I HAD to sell tortures my soul.
Just a gorgeous piece.
The attraction my C1s get pisses off my late model buddies however after a 10 hour drive they are the ones having the last laugh.

To the OP: You and I must be about the same age as indicated by the age of your grandson. I have two C1s and I enjoy them every day I drive them. They are relatively simple to work on and they get lots of attention. I also have an '86 coupe I bought new and it is great for a road car on a long trip.
I have read about the C7 and the engineering and electronics are no doubt excellent. I just don't care for the styling. Perhaps in 10 years if I am still living, I will like them.

Went to Bloomington Gold last week in Champaign IL. Got some unwanted rain on Sat. afternoon and it was HOT on Thursday but all in all it turned out OK. I took my 14yr. old grandson and he had a good time being around all the Corvettes new and old. After having my friends who has booth spaces with me letting them watch all the stuff my grandson and I took off for a walkabout ( just thought walkabout sounded cool so I put it in) and explored other vendors and displays. We went over to the new C7 Coupe and Convertible and looked at them both and even sat in the C7 Coupe. Yeah it was not to bad and as far as looks I will say it looks better in person then in the pic but when $$$ come to cents and over all looks of old and new, call me crazy if you want but give me the C1 & C2 Corvettes any day. You go buy a new C7 and drive it off the lot and you just lost $5K on the spot. Now the C1 & C2 still hold there value. Next are people looking. Sure for a short period of time the new C7 will draw all the people for a short time but after that short time the people will be around the C1 & C2 looking at there styling and outstanding beauty that has lasted for years and years. Some may call me but I will keep buying and driving my C1 & C2 Corvettes.

Compromise?
Hey Mike - You helped me build some really cool Restomod C1's and C2's. You get the best of both - Classic Styling With State of the Art Performance. We're getting too old to goof around with carburetors and points!

My 1963 Z06 was designed, manufactured, and intended to be used as a RACE car. And that is exactly what I use it for. My 2004 Z06 was designed, manufactured and intended to be used as a STREET car, and that is (mostly) what I use it for. However, the 2004 Z06 is quicker, faster, and better on a race track than the 63, as well as more civilized on the street
