the right answer is to keep both.....but keep the 57 as original....

personally I would prefer the 62 over the 57 but would have kept it original...too late for that....

I agree with Bob. Keep them both. I have a '57 and a '61 so I am in a similar situation as you. Both of them (your '57 and '62) are the last year of that particular styling and worth keeping. My preference would be to keep them original, but you are the owner.

If you can't keep them both, the 62 will have more interior room in stock form, if you need the extra leg or stomach room .

That is certainly true. I enjoy the extra room in my '61 as well as the better ride. On the other hand, the '57 is kind of a milestone car with the single headlights and the symmetric dash as well as the beautiful rear end.

If you plan on doing car shows where you need to carry a pop up canopy the 62 is the one that can carry that, cleaning supplies, chairs and all the other stuff I carry. But if I had a 57 I'd keep it too.

Is there really an answer for this question? After restoring the first '62 I had, I had the itch. I wanted a '57 or '56. I just love the looks of that body. At the time, all I could find were really junk cars. I looked for 2 years and then thought how much I really liked my '62. I kept looking for a '57 or '56, but when I ran across a decent '62, I brought it home. A '61 was also on the list if I couldn't find a decent '57, '56 or '62. Today, after another 27yrs., I have not regretted my choice.

Dave: I can identify with your experience looking for a '56 or '57. They were either junk cars and basket cases or else high priced restored ones. I finally found a '57 that had a solid frame, a good paint job and nice repro seats, dash pad and door panels. I had to correct a lot of things on the engine, gauges, clutch and transmission, but I now have a pretty decent bone stock driver.
Yes, there are things I like about my '61 over the '57. They are both keepers, though.

Default 57 vs 62

Thank you for all the input i would love to keep both but really find that hard to do i know i will catch hell for saying this but what really makes this hard is i really want to do a restomod done right but the 57 really needs to go back orig because i even have a 57 fuel injection for the car so if i keep the 57 i really need to make it orig and i am not sure if i want to put myself into that type of restoration i am leaning toward the restomod.

I love Vetterods, that is what mine is, but it would be real hard to turn a fuely into one, they almost demand to be restored to original.
Unlike most of the other posters I really don't want two Vettes. I would rather have one and make it as nice as possible.
The fuely would be very easy to sell as an unrestored car for a good chunk of change. Take that money and build you a kick *** rod. Just my opinion .

I have a 62 and a 57 FI, both correct cars.
I just picked up a 57 fuel injected Corvette which the owner started making into a Gasser over the last 40 years. The body is perfect, I have all the original parts including the FI engine. So what do I do, my decision was easy, complete the Gasser.
I can always bring it back to original but I'm doing what I will enjoy the most, the Gasser.
So do what you want to do not what others think you should do.

I'd say it depends on your size, and what engine/trans that's in each of them. For me, my 62 fits me better than my brother's 60, so I imagine the same would go for the 57. PLUS, the 62 was the first 327 and even the base motor has more oomph than all of the non fuelie motors of 57.

Do you want to drive it or look at it?

Oh ya....the trunk is quite a bit bigger in the 62 if you want to travel at all.

The 57 in original form is even tighter inside than the sixty because of a longer steering column. Since the OP is modding it anyway, chose the one he likes the look of best. I think he already knows the answer since he already started on the 62 why not finish it and preserve the 57.
