Default The Right stuff

Has anyone used "the right stuff"from Permatex ? My oil pan keeps leaking . I've tried both the large and small felpro silicon gaskets but it continues to leak . I was told that the right stuff is used commercially with great success .

I've used it on two different 20 hp Kohler engines to seal up warped valve covers which are common on those engines. It worked great. Stopped the leaks where other sealers had failed.

Recently I've found that the most common use is on the end walls of the block where they mate to the intake. It's applied like Cheez Whizz put it on thick, squish down the intake and let the stuff ooze out and cure overnight before use. Trim with a razor blade for a clean manicured finish. Great stuff and not cheap.

I've installed 2 intakes using this technique with good results. One of my friends that is a professional mechanic recommended it. Good stuff.

I used it on my intake and it worked well. You really have to put a thick bead down. It is easier to use than silicone. Not as messy.

We used it on my son's LT1 Camaro, 1997 engine, pulled the timing cover to replace a worn timing set, did not wish to pull the pan in the car, very tight fit in that car so we used the Right Stuff where the oil pan and timing gasket meet, the OEM gasket had torn when we opened it up. It had not leaked when we sold the car over a year later. Saved us a ton of time pulling the pan to replace the entire pan gasket. Used it a few other times with good success but none where I thought we were going out on a limb like we did with the LT-1. I found lacquer thinner necessary for clean up but it is good stuff.

I wonder at how is it to remove? Anyone ever have to take it off?

I have never had to use it, but sounds like it may be ideal for those very difficult to keep sealed areas.
