I've installed a ZZ4 in my '63. There is a pipe fitting that is plugging the hole for the line to the oil pressure gauge. It is square topped with about a 5/32" side. I CAN'T GET IT OUT. I went to Home Depot and bought a four-way wrench about the size of your palm. It rides up the fitting and I can't get any torque with the engine next the firewall. An open end 5/32" wrench bends and rounds the corners. Suggestions? Also, the new copper line and fittings that I bought don't seem to fit together. Any secrets? By the way, don't forget to unblock the fuel line at the tank before starting a new motor. Laugh hard at me; I did. :jester
Try to find a SK tool dealer in your area. They make a sqaure socket set, both male and female. I have the set and it works great.
If you can't find one in your area, email me and I will get you one.
i don't really understand what you are describing, but sears makes EIGHT SIDED sockets that fit perfectly on four sided plugs. they cost about $3 [come in all sort of sizes] and have been useful. one member about a year ago was ready to spend about $200 to have a six sided filler plug manufactured for his muncie transmission because he did not know about the eight sided sockets.
good luck.
If you don't wanna wait for a a special socket and your fitting is rounded a bit, just file it down to fit a socket you have. It's brass so you may be able to just tap down over the top a slightly smaller socket. That way it will fit very tight and you could get it out.
If it is a square fitting, I bought a square "key" like that used to lock gears in a keyway fitting at a local hardware store. Using a wrench on the key for leverage, I was able to remove a similar type of fitting on my big block crate motor.
