Does the arms on a muncie trans mount down or up on the trans. 1961 corvette. I have them down and I am having a lot of problems getting it to shift right.
You have to make sure you are in neutral. You also should know what the shifting pattern is which lever does what. I think the first one towards the engine is 1/2, second lever is 3/4 and last is reverse. There are numbers on the levers. You need to make sure you the correct numbers in order and the correct ones for your transmission specifications.

Thanks, to everyone that has given me ideas on the trans problems. My biggest problem was , my car was at a friends house who has a lift. Wanting to help, he took a lot of the car apart, including the trans. When we went to put it back together, he or I could not remember how it came apart. example, how the ears went on trans and etc. Guess we are getting to old for this. Today I will change the ears around, bet everything will be better. It's amazing that I could shift it at all, with the way I had it. Thanks again for the help. Best forum on the net., due to the people on it.
I could not remember the shifting order... Just that it is 1/2 and 3/4 and R. A little clarification is always good.
The other thing is make sure you have the correct levers for your transmission. Make sure to use the spacers and the correct style clips to hold the rods to the levers. The rods are numbered also.
Thanks to everyone, I am driving my car. I put the levers up and adjusted the linkage. car shifted as it should. Still haven't adj the stops, but read that you can drive without doing that. Thanks again
