Default 65' grill problem

I removed the grill to fix a broken side mount bracket (PO modified them and not much metal left) and discovered there is no center support rod nor a hole in the frame to bolt it to. Also, there's no place to bolt the bottom center bolt to. The bottom one doesn't just bolt to the fiberglass, does it?
Does anyone have any pictures they could share of the actual mountings, I checked my Factory manual but that didn't help much except to show I'm missing something. Fast Jimmy

Mine connects directly to fiberglass with bolt on top and washer and nut on bottom. Don't know if it is factory correct or not....

The bottom of the grille bolts to the fiberglass, then the support rod bolts to a hole in the mount on the body of the grille center section.. You can see the hole in 5thvet's picture and the rod bolted in in mine. The top of the support rod bolts to the support under the nose piece and can be used to "level" the center of the nose. It has a slot in it for adjustment at the top.

You're missing the support rod. See 65GGVert's photo above.

Default Grill problem

THANKS for the photos and responses. It's now obvious the the PO had made some repairs and left some things out. He cut off the extended lip on the bottom that the grill should bolt to and also there is a repair on the under-nose piece that removed some metal that was not replaced. I suspect that is where the upper bolt hole should be. I've ordered parts from Wilcox and will repair as best I can.
Thanks again. Fast Jimmy

Maybe the nose piece has been replaced by aftermarket?

Default Thanks...grill problem

Yep, there's evidence of fiberglass repair and they apparently cut away part of the metal to get to it. Fast jimmy

Hey - can I get a copy of the pictures? I am pretty sure there have been some "mods" made to my 65 as well.
