Default Need Quick Help, Value Advice

Haven't been on here in awhile. Have a situation where I need some quick advice.

Long story... But business acquaintance. Made bad decisions. His car collection going to auction. Need ball park range (I fully realize it won't be sharp pencil number, but I've been away from vettes for years. So I couldn't even get within $10-15k of correct value.)

'63 Split Window Coupe
Runs
Full rebuild, done right, 15 years ago. Storage mostly since occasionally ran to keep going
paint 8/10
Interior 8-9/10
starts, runs fine
Unfortunately don't know much else. Don't know any other options, etc.

This may be a good opportunity for me as we are in small town and may not have much competetition.

Can you give me what a steal would be no matter what, then maybe average value?

Well here we go again, maybe the moderator should make this a sticky post.

Frames need to be checked for rust, especially in the front area of the rear weels,

Is this the original motor is NOM, that effects value,

How much of this are original parts as opposed to replacement, like the Master Brake Cylinder, the thermostat, the carb, etc.

What is the type of motor, 300, 340, 360, is it four speed or auto.

Even color has its value....

Options are important....

You need much more information to determine ballpark value, but from what you provided, and taking into consider the motor is original with good VIN and Pad Numbers matching, it could range for $40K up through $100K plus, depends upon what you have, the condition, and the originality, and is the title clear?

Remember this 63 Coupe are beautiful cars, but very expensive to restore back to factory condition. Parts are scarce and very unique in some cases, and many are not reproduced at least correctly.

Good luck

I do appreciate your input. And trust me, I knew, and do understand how incredibly vague my request is. I have not researched or owned older than a C5 as typically, C1/C2 are out of my price range as I'd want the much higher end of the spectrum.

Your time and input is much appreciated and does help.

A '63 Split Window with FI just sold for around 175k at BJ.
Now you know the top end...bottom end is MUCH harder to figure out. Figure 40-50k for decent body, frame, interior etc.

Figure on it being a non-original motor unless you have an expert who can examine the car for you. If he tells you it's the original motor understand he probably really has no clue; or he is only repeating what the prior owner told him; or it's an original appearing motor which is good enough for him; or he's flat lying through his teeth. Original motor probably bumps the value 25% +/-. Best and safest bet is to make an offer based on it being non-original.

Be sure you are not just dazzled by new, shiny paint. Is it really restored or just repainted? First year 63s have a lot of unique (as in rare, hard to find and expensive to buy) parts. If truly restored there is a chance some of them have been replaced with incorrect substitutes. Hard to tell unless you really know this year.

If you can get some pictures to post here you will probably learn a truck load of info on the car from some of the folks on here.

theoretically 45Kish as a low end..... all depends, probably go up from there..... if driveable, original engine, good brakes, radiator, no hit body exponential rise in $$$, etc
