I just bought a Corvette C1 to restore in Europe. It comes with 2 engines, and i would like to know how can i find the matcing numbers to see which engine its the original.
The VIN number should be on the engine stamp pad.
If possible post engine stamp picture.
There are several expert here who can tell if it is re-stamped or an original stamp.
Maybe the 2 motors that come with the car were never in the car when it was built new? Did they tell you it was a # matching car? If so it sounds like you bought it on there word because it sounds like you have no idea on how to tell if it is an original motor car or not, am I correct?
Sounds like there might be a language problem. The engine stamp pad is on a machined surface just forward of the passenger side valve cover - it should start with an F and be a series of numbers followed by a letter suffix denoting engine type. Only the later C1s had a VIN derivative in the stamping. What year car are we discussing ?
