Default Ignition switch question

I've started the wiring on my 67 Corvette. It's not a restoration so i'm not concerned about correct parts. It was a basket case but it came with a good dash harness and engine harness from Limited Electric. I was told the harness was from a 1966 so I ordered an ignition switch for a 66-67 Corvette. The Ignition switch plugs into the harness but the locking tabs don't line up. Now I'm thinking the harness might be from a 65. What is the difference between a 65 ignition switch and the 66-67 switch and why is a 65 switch so dam expensive?

The terminal configuration on the back of the switch and the relationship of the connector lock tabs and the receivers on the switch is the same on '65-'66-'67 ignition switches. '63 was different.

65 is a one year only item and the tumblers from 66+ won't fit.

65 has a bracket for a light. this is the big diff other than the ones john mentioned. Also i have my orginal 65 switch and a new 66/67 switch and i'm sure the connecters are the same.

Does your engine harness have fusible links? If so it's '67. If not you may want to consider adding some fuses or fuselink protection in there. If the LL part #'s are on the harnesses you can research what you have to be sure.

Yes the '65 ign switch is OYO and has that special casting to hold the bulb socket. That's why prices are up there. Repros work fine and have a separate holder for the socket. At any rate you probably want to verify your harnesses application years to get things matched up properly.
