I decided to pull the rear leaf spring on my 67 small block car.
I took the spring apart in order to clean and repaint it.
Then I noticed I only had eight leaves......am I missing one?
Check out the pics, and if anyone knows what I've got or what I'm missing I'd love to know.
On a side note....I envy those of you who have the guts to pull the body and do a proper chassis restoration.
I've been doing little resto jobs component by component...master cylinder, leaf spring and shocks, driveshaft, etc.
But I keep telling myself I'll never get the car the way I'd like it unless I have access to the entire chassis.
Kudos to those of you who have done it or are doing it.
I've never heard of any C2 coming from the factory with an 8 leaf spring. The standard would have been 9 and the heavy duty 7. Not sure where that one is from but perhaps someone will know.
The 6/3 nine leaf spring configuration should look something like this when assembled. The lower six leaves are arched, the top three flat, in the free state.
If you go to their site and try to order the "8" leaf like shown, they do not have one. They have the 6/3, the 7 and the 9 leaf units. Not sure what they are showing in the photo that you posted. Maybe they are considering this the 7 leaf unit and the top one isn't considered. Maybe someone who has a 7 leaf unit can comment. Mine is a 6/3 in my car.
I just removed original 7 leaf spring, (up for sale) and replaced with a 9 leaf, the 9 leaf is exactly as posted above and this is picture of 7 leaf spring, Also notice head of center bolt has a round head and notice shape on end of each leaf turned up and tapered. I would venture to say your spring is not original
Mine looks like Mike67nv above. Not sure about your photo and what Eaton is showing there - that's a puzzle. Having never owned a 7 leaf sping, did it by chance have a short flat length (#8) at top to fit flat against the diff cover? Doesn't seem right if they were calling it a 7-leaf spring.

The photo Eaton is showing on their website is incorrect - there's no such animal as an 8-leaf spring, with or without a top plate.
I ordered a HD spring from Muskegon and got an 8 leaf spring. I tossed the top leaf. I always liked my car tail high, and used stainless bolts with nyloks to adjust it, but I didn't see the need for the top "spacer".
