Engine out ..bay painted new wiring in w/ new R-59 battery...wipers worked fine before I changed the raido...have stock raido back in and it's ground wire is attached..
If I have to Remove the wiper mtr..I'll have it reconditioned...but if I can test the motor first.... with some directions on how to test it WHILE IT'S STILL IN THE CAR...any Members can give electrically challenged personHOW TO TEST THE MOTOR WITH OUT THE WIRING HARNESS HOOK UP FROM MTR...i DID TEST FIT THE PLUGS FROM THE DASH TO THE WIPER MOTOR ...YOUR THOUGHTS..
Tom, check out one of our vendors sites, Willcox. They have a number of tech articles including one on midyear wiper motor testing. Even with the wiper motor out of the car, this might help to understand which leads to connect to for test purposes. http://willcoxcorvette.com/instructi...7_for_site.pdf

I am a newbee having just purchased a 1961 C1 last year. We were at a car show on September 1 and got caught in a rain storm trying to get home and tried to use the wipers.
They worked intermittently and I could not seem to either get them to work or then shut off. Can some one explain the operation of this set up to me? I assume they are not just an electric motor operation and that the "switch" on the dash is not really a switch?

Howdy,
The 61 wiper switch simply moves a cable that is attached to the wiper motor at an off-white nylon block. Turning the switch moves the cable in and out, which moves the off-white nylon block back and forth, which trips the electrical contacts within the wiper on and off.
From the posts above mine, I would suggest looking at the nylon block on top of the wiper motor in the engine compartment. See if the cable from the dash is moving the switch on top of the motor. You may try and move it manually to see if you get any response also.
