My shifter boot has a small crack in it. (4-speed). Time to replace it. Is any one dealer's better than the other, or are those available from the same manufacturer ? Thanks gang.
I read a post a while back where c2 guys were replacing their c2 boots with c3 leather boots from corvette central part # 233036 at the time 19.95 I was interested because the rubber does't seem to stand the test of time . So I was going to try this route next time . Just a thought Jeff
Central has the correct "dripped" rubber ones. Other vendors sell molded rubber ones. The ones Central sells, are correct, but probably not as durable as the molded rubber ones.
I bought a new boot about 15 years ago and it looked like crap, so about 5 years ago I ordered a new one from a different vendor hoping it would be better, but it also looks like crap.

"When I first came here, this was all swamp. Everyone said I was daft to build a castle on a swamp, but I built it all the same, just to show them. It sank into the swamp. So I built a second one. That sank into the swamp. So I built a third. That burned down, fell over, then sank into the swamp. But the fourth one stayed up."
Moral of the quote / story: I think you gave up too soon and need to keep buying shifter boots . . .
I have owned my 65 for 6 years, and I have replaced 2 of the smooth, molded boots. I just noticed this weekend that my latest boot is also torn.......and it has only about 1500 miles on it. I'm going to try the one from Corvette Central, that is supposedly made like the originals. If that one fails in 1000 miles, my next boot will be leather.
