Engine decode help
could somebody tell what this engine is from
i have a chance to buy hoping it is a numbers matching for my 62
Stamp on pad,,, FO504YA
engine casting 3782870
thats all i have so far

the closest thing you can get is a dated block to your car and the YA suffix code was only used in 65, and 68. and since you have a 62 it wont work for that angle of matching

Based on what is supplied so far, two possibilities:
1965 327 185hp manual trans, 2 bbl carb, in a large truck
1968 327 240hp manual trans, 4 bbl carb, in a truck
Same code was also used in 66 and 69 for a 366 big block truck engine, but clearly not what this is.
Since the engine plant is listed as F, and not V, is has to be the 1965 engine. The switch from F to V for the Flint engine plant occurred in the 1967 model year.
