Has anyone used spacers for front end lift of C1? Please send me a PM as I have a question about connecting rod.

Thanks,
Skip.

Yes, common setup in early 60s. We use an I-beam about 3" to 4" high. Traced the outline of the shim and bolted them in.

My question is what modification has to be done to the connecting rod to allow install of the pitman arm? With 4" spacers, it's close but not without stress.

I don't recall any modification was needed (remembering from over 50 years ago!). It changes the angle a little, but still functions the same.

4 in. spacer may need a longer pitman arm. I have seen 2 in. and 6 in. I-beam spacers. The 2 in. worked fine with stock steering linkage. The 6 in. crossmember was definately too low. The easiest thing to do is get a longer pitman arm to lower rear of linkage, correct the angles and prevent any binding. 4 in. is borderline a longer pitman arm might do the trick.
