Default Borgeson P/S wanders

I recently installed a complete Borgeson P/S kit in my 66 and left the tie rods in the outer holes.
It's a huge improvement, but still wanders a little.
The steering box is centred within ~ 20○ of dead centre.
I asked the wheel alignment (suspension specialist) about this and he said it's close enough.
Everything else in the front end is new and the wheel alignment has been checked a couple of times.
Do you think relocating the tie rods to the inner holes and getting the box to the exact centre will improve it ?
Thanks for any advice.

With your new Power steering moving the tie rods to the inner setting with both speed up your steering and eliminate some of the wander. Your alignment may still be off causing wander.

What kind of tires do you have (bias-ply or radials), and what is your front toe-in setting?

Either a toe-out condition or negative caster will cause the front end to wander.

Radials tires, toe in is 1/32" Caster is ~ 2.5○+
I think I'll relocate the tie rods to the inner holes and reset the toe in @ 1/16" and see how that feels

Is the Borgeson box a high center point box? If it is, you want the steering dead center (not 20 deg. off). And I would find a different " wheel alignment specialist" that won't say "it is close enough"!

Good luck,

If the rear end isn't aligned properly or the bushings are loose, the car will wander. It's usually more noticeable switching from slight acceleration to trailing throttle.

On the front end of my 66, I changed the upper aframe bolts so I could add enough shims to set caster to 3 degrees. That got it to track straight.

Update
Relocated tie rods to inner P/S holes, reset toe in to 1/16th" centred the box (exactly) and it's a lot better.
But I could do with more caster, don't have much "return"

I already have offset upper shafts, loaded with shims, so I'll have to get longer bolts, or slot them.
I'll live with it for now, thanks again.
Cheers

Slotting the cross shafts about 5/16 inch so you can dial in 4 to 5 degrees positive caster is what forum member Silverslashstreak recommends and did to his to improve the set up.
