First factory side pipe cars?
I had always thought that factory side pipes for Corvettes did not appear until a couple of months into 1965, when the 396 engine also became available.
But looking at Fall, 1964 pictures in CF of the Tangier Shrine Corvette Patrol picking up their 13 yellow '65s just after production began in St. Louis, ALL those low-hp, mostly PG small blocks have side pipes! Buying 13 cars at a time allowed the Shriners to get some special options, those '65s also had a zippered black vinyl curtain closing off the luggage area behind the seats.
When I purchased my red '64 Shriner from a Patrol member's California son-in-law, he also had a silver '63 and one of the yellow '65s.
Could those 13 yellow convertibles be the FIRST factory side pipe Sting Rays?

Can you show a link to that Fall '64 CF post ? There were 15 Shriner 1965 Corvettes, all Nassau blue with white/blue interiors, presented 21 Nov 1964. NO N14 sidepipes among them, as they were not available until around VIN 10,000, ["cars before VIN 9,000 should be examined with great scrutiny"] per NCRS research.
You may be thinking of 1966 or 1967 Shriner deliveries, which did have sidepipes.
I don't know whether GL Anderson is a member on this board, as his father owned the dealer in Wahoo NE, which supplied the cars for the Shriner deliveries. He has the paperwork and VINs of all these cars. (including that notorious '67 shriner car that was "modified" and (unsuccessfully) passed off as an L88).
