If you wouldn't mind going 10 minutes west on the 91 Freeway from Buena Park, I've had good experiences with Team C Performance, just north of George Chevrolet at 16706 Lakewood Blvd. They built a quality, long-life, high torque and gas mileage mileage 383 for my Suburban. (562) 866-3887

Default I'll see if I can look someone up!

I have had stuff done over the years at Valley Head up in the valley and was looking at Hank the Crank (Orange County based) for machine work on a raw 4340 Crank forging that I have to special turn out for my Bowtie Aluminum Block build.

What do you need machined or are you just looking for someone to assemble an engine???? What purpose is the engine being built???? I think guys that assemble engines tend to specialize in what they select for the venue of competition.

I knew one very unhappy customer of Team C's! I actually have never shopped there, but a friend that passed had a 1966 Chevelle and the rebuilt 383 failed mechanically. That was a number of years ago, and I don't remember the details on it and his Father isn't around (moved away).

The Vintage racing guys, seem to have strong engines that hold together. Thus that is where I am thinking about referring you!

Call him and he'll tell you who he sends his stuff to. (714) 596-5034. He's a crusty old guy but knows his Corvettes. If you're looking for conversation don't go there. He does quality work.

If you are looking to have your stock heads modified, Flow Technology in Garden Grove is the place. The same guy has been porting SBC heads for like a bazillion years and did the heads on my '64 ~25 years ago.

They are highly recommended by the outlaw Street Racer crowd as well as Car Craft Magazine. From The Car Craft article on LA stret Racers:

Flow Technology Racing Heads

Want some heads ported but don’t have a lot of money? Drop them off at Juan Mendoza’s shop in Garden Grove. According to Fabian, Juan is a genius when it comes to porting cylinder heads, and judging by the collection of Wallys casually sitting in his lobby, it’s clear he knows what he’s doing. Juan is 72 years old; he doesn’t have a website, a Facebook page, or a Twitter feed. You need to deal with him one-on-one in his shop, but we guarantee it’s worth the trip.
