I will be up at Legend in mid February to look over the 700 in detail. I think the design is rock solid and strong and does fit in most tunnels. Some cars need an offset shifter ( Corvettes ) and some do not. I know they are working on a new offset lever design. They are not going anywhere. I never liked the TKO and already its hard to get TKO , T56 and T45 parts out of Tremec. So manufacturing your own gears and parts is paramount.
Paul,
Just wondering what outcome was of your visit to Legend in Feb?
I was one of many that were about to take plunge with Keisler RS transmission when they went belly-up. Luckily did not get to ordering stage. Would still like to install a 5 speed sometime in the near future.
How do you see things panning out over the next few months regarding Legend and supply of their transmissions for C2?
We should probably leave all these Keisler threads behind us in the dust where they belong as part of history, and open a new thread titled "LGT-700" to symbolize moving forward with the latest 5 speed retrofit options, to include new and updated info on this topic. In any case, Id like to congratulate Paul and Bowler transmissions for both their acceptance as new distributors for Legend Gear & Transmission, offering the LGT-700;
LG&T is offering the LGT-700 with 7 different shifter offsets/placements directly out the door from their North Carolina factory now to fit most applications. They're ISO9000 compliant, so apparently no more "kits" by distributors and/or dealers in attempts to make a mfr's trans fit into your old Corvette, Camaro, Chevelle, Pickup etc.
Looking forward to seeing a write-up/review/pics of one of these factory direct LGT-700 installs in an old C1 or C2 soon. I have no horse in this race, but I like to see direct, no-nonsense solutions to problems in the hobby.

I must say I was very impressed. Since I am in manufacturing, I've seen many gear manufacturing operations. I deal with it on a daily basis. For me to take on another line, well it's something I take serious. This would be the first time I actually sell a transmission I do not build on my end. Legend is under the roof of Abundant Mfg and RP machine. It's a 192,000 sq ft facility devoted to making gears from small PTO's ( Power Take Off's) to huge 6 foot diameter ring gears for wind turbines. It's made up of some Ex. Dana Corp people. The RP Machine end upgrades gear cutting machinery for resale and export. They are all ISO 9000 certified companies and do precision ground gearing. The LGT700 gear quality and finish well exceeds what Tremec manufactures. It will take some time for distributors to come up with kits, but I do feel that having a group of specific people involved SHARING information, its going to work out quite well. I'll have the LGT700.com webpage running in a limited mode soon. So please bear with me as the page develops.
I looked at the video of some Keisler installations and couldn't see the practicality of moving the engine forward and then pulling everything together in non removable crossmember cars. It would seem less time consuming just to yank the engine. I've been working with them on some new extension housing ideas that make make these installations easier.

i'm not sure about the pulling the engine forward method, but have planned on using the 'tip the back of the engine down' method as i REALLY don't want to have to pull the engine in my 62.... too much to disconnect.

can you email me a pic of your trans? mail to support@5speeds.com. On the 62 you may be able use the tip the back down method. I had installed an ST10 in a 62 and it was tight. Switched it to a Muncie for a youtube vid I did years ago... at www.gearworld.tv You may be able to use some of the ideas in the video... An extension houisng is the rear portion of the transmission case.

We have a distributor meeting with them next week. Sales have been pretty robust for the transmission so far. I haven't seen any issues.
Paul , how'd the meeting with Legend Gear & Transmission go ? I see 5speeds.com isn't listed as a distributor on LG&T's web page anymore and you took down all references of the LGT-700 from your webpage, which had quite a bit of info on the trans BTW. I assume ya'll couldn't hammer out an agreement.

I agree that this thread should be closed at this time. It would be wise to start an entire new thread regarding resources and parts that are in the community today.
However, I would remind everyone that we still have to follow the forum guidelines regarding Promotion of Non Supporting Vendors during these discussions. Just to review, heres a link:
"Members are not prohibited from mentioning it when they have a good (or bad, for that matter) experience with a non-supporting vendor. But such mentions cannot be so specific (address, phone number, e-mail address, URL, price, part number, offer to send contact information via PMs, etc.) or so frequent that they become marketing and promotional references.
Only supporting vendors can post Group Purchase threads. Only supporting vendors are permitted to post threads to gauge interest in a product."
