The top is from a '66 so it's Nassau Blue of indeterminate age while the car is a '67 freshly painted Marina Blue. While not perfectly, exactly the same, I think they are close enough to get by without having to paint the top which is in excellent condition and not in need of anything but some rubber, which I've already ordered.
In the shade, it's a MATCH!! Even if there's a slight shade difference in the blues in bright sunshine, 50 mph you won't know the difference. She's a keeper as is.
The colors are real close. The real question is, does it matter to you? If you can see a difference now, you'll see it every time you look at the car...
Fun! But I'm not accustomed to a clutch with such a long travel and engagement so high. I'm hoping that is adjustable. Taking her to The Vette Smith in So. Miami today and leaving her for a week so they can attend to odds and ends.
I love the sound of the solid lifters but think the exhaust needs to be louder. Not sure if off-road is too loud (as Gary suggested) so am pen to suggestions. I'll see what The Vette Smiths recommend.
I haven't driven her much because I just got the temp tag late yesterday so it's too soon to fully analyze it. I've got to get used to the shifter as I'm never quite certain I'm in neutral but I am, invariably. Just some adjustment period and I'll be an old hand at driving this car.
Off to the shop now and in a week I'll post pics of her with new wheels and tires, fresh chrome bits, etc.
There were no solid lifter SB in 67. All mechanical lifters. A sett of N11 pipes and mufflers should help the sound. If your mechanic knows how to adjust the Muncie shifter it will shift like a hot knife through butter Don't let anyone else tell you other wise.
Pictures are difficult to tell color variation from but it seems to match well. I would normally say to buff the top to freshen it up but in your case it may be better to leave well enough alone.
Muncie shifters are OK - if not completely worn out. But I sure would change it to the short throw setting if it hasn't been done already. Otherwise that knife through butter is more like a knife through pond sediment - long way to the bottom.
